Scuba divers find 25 kilos of suspected cocaine in the Florida Keys

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Scuba divers found more than just seashells and marine life when they went for a dive in Key Largo on Wednesday.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office was called to the Rainbow Reef Dive Center after the divers netted a large amount of suspected cocaine.

The divers told police they thought they were picking up garbage they found 100 feet below the surface.

When they got back to shore, they opened the bag to find 25 individually wrapped kilograms of suspected cocaine.

Deputies turned the items over to the U.S. Border Patrol.
