TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — The building where the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooter opened fire will be demolished this summer.
In a new release from Broward County Public Schools on Thursday, officials said demolition for the school’s 1200 building will either begin on June 13 or June 14.

The process is expected to last several weeks.
“We understand this is a sensitive and difficult time for the families of those who were killed, those who were injured, and all of those who are forever impacted by the tragedy on February 14, 2018,” the school district said. “We will continue to keep the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School community informed and updated as we navigate this process together.”
