It’s not your traditional “drug store,” but it’s got Maricopa residents eager to exchange their cash for some hash.

City leaders gave Trulieve the green light to build a cannabis dispensary at the future shopping center being developed on the southeast corner of John Wayne Parkway and Honeycutt Avenue. The pot shop, as planned, will be in a building just south of the soon-to-come Lowe’s Home Improvement store.

An InMaricopa poll of 368 readers this week found about half are eager to patronize the city’s first THC inhaler retailer.

We asked this question: Will you stand in line when Maricopa’s first recreational cannabis store opens?

“I’d be lying if I said no,” Glennwilde resident Khrystian Waite said. “Better have that gas too.”

Rancho El Dorado resident Joseph Chee said he is “already in line.”

Only a third said they have no desire to hit the new joint when it opens.

“I have no medical need for it,” Cobblestone Farms resident Steven Durette said. “I outgrew the need and desire to be stoned at 18.”
