Could Edgewater Get Its First Weed Dispensary? Seattle Company Pitches Broadway Store – Block Club Chicago

EDGEWATER — A Seattle-based cannabis dispensary company is looking to expand to Chicago and is seeking the city’s permission to open a shop in Edgewater.

Bakeréé wants to open its first store in Chicago at 6320 N. Broadway, according to plans shared by Ald. Leni Manaa-Hoppenworth’s (48th) office.

The company hopes to buy the building, but the sale hinges on its rezoning, which is needed in order to operate a cannabis dispensary there, according to the plan. The rezoning requires the approval of Manaa-Hoppenworth and the full City Council.

A Bakeréé representative declined to comment when reached by phone. The building’s owner didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.
