In the wee hours of last Saturday morning, the Massachusetts State Police pulled over a car that turned out to be a mobile marijuana dispensary on wheels. Just before 2AM, Trooper William Rolls spotted a Chevrolet Spark with an expired inspection sticker cruising down Route 95 in Canton, prompting a routine stop that escalated quickly. According to a report by the Massachusetts State Police, when Rolls ran a check on the hatchback, it triggered red flags for both the vehicle and its driver, ALEXANDRE MACKENS, 25, of Brockton.
A subsequent inspection of MACKENS’ license revealed that it was suspended, further complicating the stop. As Trooper Rolls engaged with MACKENS, a strong scent of marijuana smoke permeated from the car’s interior, stoking suspicion and paving the way for a vehicle search. Trooper Andrew Freitas, who had arrived to assist, noticed drug paraphernalia on the passenger floorboard—a tray with scissors and rolling paper lying in plain view.
